What is Natural Traffic Sign?

Natural Traffic Sign consists of residual hemp fibers and a 100% fossil-free, non-toxic binder. The hemp is grown and harvested in the northeastern Netherlands. Production takes place in Arnhem, using green electricity and the finishing is in the hands of people with a distance to the labor market. The retro-reflective film is removable and used in our UPVC signs made of recycled plastic.

NTS symbolizes climate-neutral production and material applications. The natural look confirms the composition of materials. The object breathes harmony with its environment. After a technical lifetime of at least 20 years, the carrier is compostable according to EN13432. Retroreflective film can be mechanically separated from the carrier.

Why choose Natural Traffic Sign?

Natural Traffic Sign is made from 100% bio-based thermosetting resins and is the world's first of its kind. NTS is a high-quality, circular and carbon-negative product that is an excellent alternative to aluminum signs. Bio-resins are safe and most of the raw materials are industrially available in Europe. NTS signs are 50% lighter than aluminum signs. This makes production and distribution easier and cheaper. For example, 2x more Natural Traffic Signs than aluminum signs can be transported by truck. This means fewer transport movements, less man hours and less fuel. The combination carrier and support structure carries the CE mark and achieves an MKI score of almost zero. The result is a strong, high-quality, circular and CO₂ -negative traffic sign with a natural appearance.

NTS sign has an Environmental Cost Indicator (EQI) of 0.48 in case the sign is recycled. NTS pole has an EQI score of 4.78.
